Yellowfin tuna are the fish most people want to bring home, because they are some of the best eating in Cabo. They live offshore, so the boat needs range. These 17 are the premium sportfishers in our fleet, 32 to 60 feet, with full-day prices from $1,308 for the whole boat, all-in, and room for up to 10 anglers.

Yellowfin run from May to November, and cow tuna over 200 pounds are possible. Unlike marlin, which are released, tuna are usually yours to keep, and your captain can point you to the dock vendors who fillet and vacuum-pack the catch. Dorado, another great eating fish, run from July to October, so a summer trip can put both in the box.

When is tuna season in Cabo?

Yellowfin tuna run in Cabo from May to November. Your captain goes where the fish are on your date.

Can we keep the tuna?

Tuna are usually yours to keep, unlike marlin, which are caught and released. Ask your captain on the day, and they can point you to the dock vendors who fillet and vacuum-pack your catch.

Half day or full day for tuna?

Tuna are offshore, so a full day gives the boat time for the run out and back. The Cabo San Lucas boats on this page also sell a half day; the San José boats sell one 6-7 hour trip.

What is included in the price?

Every boat price is for the whole boat, all-in: captain and crew, rods, reels and tackle, one Mexican fishing licence, dock and marina fees, ice and bottled water, fresh or live bait when available, and all taxes. The tip for the crew is separate; 15-20% is standard in Cabo.

How does booking work?

Pick a boat, a date and half or full day, then book online. Trips over $500 take a $500 deposit and the balance is settled before the trip; trips under that are paid in full. Your captain confirms the departure time and dock once the date is booked. Cancel 7 or more days out for a full refund, 72 hours to 7 days for 50%; if the captain cancels for weather, you get a full refund or a free reschedule.
