Why anglers book the full day

A full day gives the boat time to run offshore, where the marlin, tuna and dorado are. Every boat in our fleet sells one: 34 boats, 23 to 60 feet, with full-day prices from $526 to $4,089 for the whole boat. Prices include the captain and crew, tackle, bait, ice, a fishing licence and dock fees; 16% IVA is added at checkout.

23 boats depart Cabo San Lucas. The other 11 depart Marina Puerto Los Cabos in San José del Cabo and sell a single 6-7 hour trip at one price, which is what their cards show. The San José marina sits closer to the Gordo Banks offshore.

Seasons shape the day. Yellowfin tuna run from May to November and dorado from July to October, both good eating. Striped marlin peak from November to May and blue marlin from June to December. For the biggest boats, see luxury fishing yachts; for a shorter trip, half-day charters.

How long is a full day?

The San José boats publish one 6-7 hour trip. For the Cabo San Lucas boats, your captain confirms the departure and return time once your date is booked.

What is included in the price?

Every boat price is for the whole boat, plus 16% IVA, and includes the captain and crew, rods, reels and tackle, one Mexican fishing licence, dock and marina fees, ice and bottled water, and fresh or live bait when available. The tip for the crew is separate; 15-20% is standard in Cabo.

How does booking work?

Pick a boat, a date and half or full day, then book online. Every trip is paid in full, plus 16% IVA, when you book. Your captain confirms the departure time and dock once the date is booked. More than 72 hours before your trip: 75% refund. From 48 to 72 hours before: 50% refund. Under 48 hours, a no-show, arriving late, seasickness or heading back early: no refund. If the port is closed, or the captain or tour team cancels for weather or safety, we move you to a new date. If no new date works for you, you get a full refund. Light rain or choppy water that the captain calls safe is not a cancellation.
