All-inclusive, five outdoor pools, a waterslide, eight restaurants, a guitar lending program in every room, a regular live concert series and music-inspired spa treatments. Rooms from $591 a night. Reviews are split, a 7.8 from close to 280, which usually means the energy is exactly as advertised and you either want that or you do not.

The Cape, a Thompson Hotel

On the cliffs of Cabo San Lucas with direct views of Land's End and the Arch. Two pools, an outdoor spa, a nightclub on the amenity list, surf-inspired design, and Manta, the restaurant by chef Enrique Olvera. A 9.6 from about 300 reviews, with rooms from $510 a night. Less stage, more soundtrack.

Sandos Finisterra

On a cliff above Land's End by the Cabo San Lucas marina, with some of the best views of the Arch in town, three outdoor pools, a full spa and a nightclub that keeps the evening going. An all-inclusive option is available. An 8.8 from close to 400 reviews, rooms from $295 a night. If you want to sleep near the Marina, this is the base.

Drift San José del Cabo

A 29-room design hotel on Hidalgo in the heart of the San José art district, popular with creatives and locals, with a heated pool and a social scene around it. An 8.5 from around 200 reviews, rooms from $116 a night. The most affordable bed on this list, and the one closest to the galleries.

Casa Natalia

Twenty rooms on the main plaza of the San José art district, adults only, with courtyard gardens, a heated pool and a Palapa Bar pouring martinis and cocktails. A 9.2 from about 330 reviews, rooms from $199 a night.

On the beach in San José del Cabo, with four restaurants, three bars, a spa and a curated mezcal tasting program. A 9.2 from around 510 reviews, rooms from $234 a night.

• You make music: Hotel El Ganzo, for the studio and the residency.
• You want the party included: Hard Rock Hotel Los Cabos, all-inclusive with the concert series.
• You want the view and a nightclub: The Cape or Sandos Finisterra.
• You want affordable and creative: Drift, in the art district.
• Rates are the per-night starting prices in our listings, and they move with the season. Peak is December through April. Summer runs 30 to 50 percent cheaper, with the occasional afternoon rain.
