Amara Sunday Brunch in Cabo: What to Expect and How to Book

Amara's Sunday brunch on the Corridor: course by course with no limit, a live paella station and a Sea of Cortez view. Here's how to book.

Amara Sunday Brunch in Cabo: What to Expect and How to Book

Picture a slow Sunday in Cabo. You're up on a hillside off the Corridor, a mimosa in hand, the Sea of Cortez stretched across the horizon, and the plates just keep coming. That's Sunday brunch at Amara, and it's the kind of morning that quietly takes over your whole day (in the best way).

Amara calls itself Baja fine dining, and Chef Andrés Bracamontes cooks the flavors of the peninsula, drawn from the sea, the fire and the region's farms. Brunch is where all of that gets relaxed and generous. Here's what to expect, how the morning works, and how to lock in a table.

What makes Amara's Sunday brunch different

Most brunches in town are a buffet or a fixed plate. Amara does it another way. Its own site says brunch runs course by course with no limit, so the plates come to you, course after course, and you set the pace. No lines, no balancing plates on the way back to the table.

That same kitchen cooks your Sunday, and the whole menu leans on what the region gives: a raw bar with the day's catch, steaks cooked over fire, and produce from nearby farms.

What's on the table

Amara publishes its brunch menu as a PDF on its site, and the highlights it lists are the classics done right, plus a few surprises:

A tray of oysters, abalone, tuna and ceviche on ice at Amara in Cabo San Lucas
  • Eggs any way you like, the easy start for anyone at the table who just wants breakfast.
  • Chilaquiles with morita salsa, green salsa or choyero mole, which is the move if you want something properly Mexican.
  • Los Benitos, their dish with poached eggs and hollandaise.
  • A live paella station, cooked right there, which is half meal and half show.

Menus change, so check the current brunch PDF on amarabaja.com before you go if you have your heart set on one dish.

The drinks: mimosas, spritzes and a Bloody Mary your way

Brunch drinks at Amara go past the usual. The site lists mimosas, bellinis with pitahaya, mango or pear, spritzes, and Bloody Marys where you pick the base: vodka, mezcal or gin. Our vote? Try the mezcal one at least once. It's a very Baja way to start a Sunday.

The bar program runs deeper than brunch, too. Head Mixologist Grecko Zanatta builds cocktails on Baja botanicals and Mexican spirits, and Wine Director and Sommelier Miguel Hernández keeps the list close to home with bottles from Baja and the Valle de Guadalupe. If you love brunch, come back one evening. The team says cocktails taste best at golden hour, with the sea on the horizon.

The view and where to find it

Amara sits on the Transpeninsular Highway at Km 6.3, on the Tourist Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. It's up on a hillside, which is exactly why the view works: you look out over the Sea of Cortez instead of straight into a parking lot. There's on-site parking, so driving yourself or grabbing a ride are both easy.

If you're staying in a villa or resort along the Corridor, it's a short trip. Coming from downtown Cabo San Lucas or San José, give yourself a little extra time on the highway.

Hours, price and how to book

Amara's own site says Sunday brunch runs from 9 am to 2 pm. We've also seen an OpenTable listing with different hours and a set price per adult. Times and prices can shift by season, so confirm the hours and the price when you book. That's the only way to be sure.

Booking is simple. Amara takes reservations on OpenTable, by phone at +52 624 594 0000, by WhatsApp, or by email at hello@amarabaja.com. Celebrating a birthday or an anniversary? Mention it when you book. Amara says to let them know when you book, and the team will handle the details.

Our tip: reserve ahead rather than walking in, so your table and your time are set before Sunday comes.

Make a day (or a whole trip) of it

Brunch at Amara ends at 2 pm by its own schedule, which leaves the whole afternoon open. A slow brunch, then a beach or a nap by the pool, is a very good Cabo Sunday. If you're planning around special dates, Amara has two on our Cabo events calendar: a Sunday brunch on October 11 where Chef Elihu Sepúlveda of Solaz joins Chef Bracamontes, and Catrina del Desierto on November 1, Amara's first anniversary and Day of the Dead night with guest chefs, cocktails, a large altar and live music. Pair that one with our guide to Día de los Muertos in Cabo.
