Zadún, One Of Nine Ritz-Carlton Reserves In The World
Zadún in San José del Cabo is one of nine Ritz-Carlton Reserves on earth. The suites, HUMO and the dining lineup, wellness, and how to book.

Picture this. You land in Los Cabos, and a short drive later you are standing on a terrace over the Sea of Cortez with your own pool at your feet. That is Zadún, and it sits in a very small club. Ritz-Carlton gives the Reserve name to only nine hotels on the planet, and this one, in San José del Cabo, was the first in Mexico.
We get asked about Zadún a lot, so here is the full rundown: what makes a Reserve different, what your stay actually looks like, where to eat, and how to book it.
One of nine Ritz-Carlton Reserves in the world
Ritz-Carlton describes the Reserve collection as rare sanctuaries built around discreet luxury and a real connection to the place they sit in. The list is short. Right now it counts nine hotels: Rissai Valley in China, Mandapa in Bali, Higashiyama in Niseko, Phulay Bay in Thailand, Zadún here in Los Cabos, Siari in Riviera Nayarit, Nekajui in Costa Rica, Dorado Beach in Puerto Rico and Nujuma on the Red Sea.
Zadún opened that door for Mexico. The MICHELIN Guide also gives it Two Keys, which puts it in some very good Cabo company. If you want the full picture of who else holds Keys here, we broke it down in our MICHELIN Key hotels in Los Cabos guide.

What it is like to stay at Zadún
The resort has 113 rooms, suites and villas spread over the property, and the whole thing leans into indoor and outdoor living. Sliding glass doors open onto wide terraces, and almost everything faces the water.
The Beachfront Suites are the ones people screenshot. You get a private pool on a large terrace with lounge beds, a living room big enough to host friends, and oversized bathrooms with indoor and outdoor showers and a deep soaking tub. The rooms are dressed with handcrafted art, textiles and pieces by Mexican artisans, so it feels like Mexico, not like a hotel that could be anywhere.
Coming with family or a group? The Ritz-Carlton Residences have five bedrooms, and the Grand Reserve Villa is a two-story beachfront home with five guestrooms. The hotel calls that one its crown jewel.
Where to eat: HUMO, X Equis, El Barrio and Candil
You could stay a week and never leave the property to eat. Here is how the lineup works, per the hotel's dining page.
- HUMO is the dinner spot. It is a contemporary grill that celebrates Baja's land and sea, with local seafood, premium meats, plant-based dishes, Mexican wines, firepits, ocean views and live music. It runs nightly from 6:00 pm to 10:30 pm and the dress code is smart casual.
- X Equis is the casual heart of the resort. Think fresh ceviches, coastal Mexican flavors and cocktails for a long lunch.
- El Barrio is right on the beach and feels like a lively Mexican home, with colorful plates and big flavors. On Wednesday evenings La Cantina brings live mariachi.
- Candil Agave Bar is all about agave: tequila, mezcal, sotol, bacanora and raicilla in handcrafted cocktails. It opens at 3:30 pm, so it makes an easy warm-up before HUMO.
There is also Azul Café for juices, pastries and churros, and El Panadero, a bread cart that rolls fresh sweet bread around the resort every morning. Yes, really.
New in the kitchen: Hospitality Net reported in May that Victor Garrido was appointed Executive Chef, overseeing HUMO, Equis, El Barrio and Candil Bar, plus in-room and private dining. He brings more than 26 years in professional kitchens, and per the same report, HUMO reopened in November 2025 with a focus on wood-fired international cuisine.

Wellness, the pool and golf next door
The wellness side is run by Sensei at Zadún, with one-on-one sessions across fitness, meditation, mindset, nutrition, yoga and sleep. Small-group classes like Open Sky Meditation are complimentary, so you can start the day slow without adding a line to your bill. There is also a 24/7 fitness center, a beachfront pool, a lap pool and whirlpools, plus a kids' program called Guardians of Baja if you are traveling with little ones.
Golfers, this part is for you. Puerto Los Cabos Golf Club sits about five minutes away with 27 holes designed by Greg Norman and Jack Nicklaus. Want more options? Here is our guide to golf courses in Cabo.
Where it sits: Puerto Los Cabos
Zadún is on Boulevard Mar de Cortez in Puerto Los Cabos, on the east side of San José del Cabo. That means a short drive from the airport (the hotel lists 5.1 km) and easy dinners in the art district when you want a night off property. Parking and valet are complimentary, and there is EV charging if you rent an electric car.
It works for a honeymoon, a milestone birthday or a slow reset week. If romance is the plan, our Cabo honeymoon guide has more ideas.
