Short answer: In the National Hurricane Center advisories issued at 5:00 PM Cabo time on Tuesday 29 September 2026, no coastal watch or warning is listed for Baja California Sur or Los Cabos. NHC's 5:00 PM Rachel advisory (11A) says its swells will reach the Baja California Peninsula "through the end of the week" and are "likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions," so respect beach flags, follow official notices, and message us if you want help moving a day.

Update: Tuesday 29 September 2026, 5:00 PM Cabo time

Rachel: NHC's Tropical Storm Rachel Intermediate Advisory 11A (6:00 PM CST, 5:00 PM Cabo time) keeps the Tropical Storm Warning from Punta San Telmo to Playa Perula and the Tropical Storm Watch north of Playa Perula to Cabo Corrientes. Neither area is in Baja California Sur. NHC says swells from Rachel will "spread northward along the coast of west-central Mexico and the Baja California Peninsula through the end of the week" and are "likely to cause life-threatening surf and rip current conditions." It adds: "Rachel is forecast to become a hurricane tonight and a major hurricane by Thursday." For the official track and cone, see NHC's Rachel graphics.
Polo: NHC's Tropical Storm Polo Intermediate Advisory 37A (5:00 PM MST) says: "There are no coastal watches or warnings in effect." It adds: "Polo is expected to dissipate within the next several hours."

What this means for your trip

At 5:00 PM, NHC listed no watch or warning for Los Cabos. If one is issued, it will appear in the NHC and SMN advisories linked here.

Flights. Your airline decides whether a flight runs. If your flight time changes, send us the new time and we help you move your airport transfer. For anything else you booked with us, our cancellation policy applies.

Boats, fishing and tours. The port captain (Capitanía de Puerto de Cabo San Lucas) decides when the port closes to small boats. If a trip you booked with us can't run, our weather policy is simple: "If we or the captain cancel for weather or safety reasons, you receive a full refund or a free reschedule, no matter the timing."

Beaches. On 27 September, ZOFEMAT lifeguards reported black flags (beaches closed, no entering the sea) in Cabo San Lucas and San José del Cabo. On 25 September, Protección Civil warned that in strong surf, waves can suddenly reach areas that look safe, and asked everyone to avoid the beach while the strong surf lasts, even to walk on the sand, and to follow lifeguards.

Update: Tuesday 29 September 2026, 2:00 PM Cabo time

Polo: NHC's Tropical Storm Polo Advisory 37 (2:00 PM MST) says: "The government of Mexico has discontinued all coastal warnings and watches." It warned that Polo's swells were "likely to cause life-threatening surf, rip currents, and coastal flooding" along portions of the coast of the Baja California peninsula.
Rachel: NHC's Tropical Storm Rachel Advisory 11 (3:00 PM CST, 2:00 PM Cabo time) lists the same warning and watch areas in southwestern Mexico.
Mexico's SMN: SMN's extended forecast No. 272 (issued 14:00 Mexico City time, 29 Sep): Through 7:00 AM Cabo time Wednesday, it lists heavy rain with locally very heavy rain (50 to 75 mm) in central Baja California Sur, and wind of 20 to 30 km/h with gusts of 50 to 70 km/h for the state. From Wednesday 30 September to Thursday 1 October, it lists intervals of showers (5 to 25 mm) for Baja California Sur. For Thursday 1 to Saturday 3 October, it lists showers with locally heavy rain (25 to 50 mm) in southern Baja California Sur from Rachel's circulation, and waves of 3.0 to 5.0 meters along the coast of Baja California Sur.
Los Cabos Protección Civil: On 28 September, Protección Civil said it keeps monitoring Polo and is watching Rachel's track, and asked everyone to follow official notices. It noted that clear skies or sunshine do not rule out rain.
