Is My Cabo Trip Affected? A Simple Checklist

Short answer: Your trip is affected only if the official sources say so for Los Cabos, or your airline, hotel or tour changes its plans. Check the National Hurricane Center and SMN for any watch or warning for Baja California Sur, then check your airline and your stay, and message us for anything you booked with us.

1. Check the official storm advisories

Open the NHC Eastern Pacific page. For each active storm, open the public advisory and read the section called "WATCHES AND WARNINGS." Watches and warnings are listed as stretches of coast between two places (for example, "Punta San Telmo to Playa Perula"). Check whether Los Cabos is named or lies between the named places, and open the storm's NHC map if you are not sure.

Also read the "SURF" line under hazards. Storms far from Cabo can still send big swells to the Baja California peninsula.

2. Check Mexico's own alerts

Look at SMN's tropical cyclone notices and the SIAT-CT alert levels. SIAT-CT uses five colors, from blue to red, as set out in its official manual. For local notices like beach closures, check the Los Cabos government news page.

3. Check your flight

Your airline decides whether your flight runs. Check its app, and turn on flight alerts. If your time changes, forward it to us so we can move your airport transfer.

4. Check your stay

• Resorts: Resort stays follow the hotel's own cancellation policy, shown on your rate at checkout.
• Villas: Your booking confirmation and our cancellation policy have the terms. Send us your booking reference and we help you with the property.

5. Check your boat days and tours

The port captain decides when the port closes to small boats. If a trip you booked with us can't run, our weather policy covers you: "If we or the captain cancel for weather or safety reasons, you receive a full refund or a free reschedule, no matter the timing."

6. Check your travel insurance

If you have a policy, read the section on weather and named storms, or call the insurer before you cancel anything. Every plan is different.

• Follow beach flags. On 26 September 2026 the Los Cabos government used black flags for a preventive beach closure during Polo.
• Stay out of flooded arroyos (dry riverbeds). SMN warns that heavy rain can raise river and arroyo levels.
• Follow instructions from Protección Civil and your hotel.
