So instead of a list that goes stale by spring, here is how the year actually sounds in Los Cabos: which months bring crowds and celebrations, and the bars and restaurants where live music happens every week no matter what the festival posters say.
December to April: peak season
This is when the town is fullest, the weather is driest, and the whales are in the bay, from December through April with sightings dropping after mid April. Every room with a stage has a band on. Book dinner and tables a week or more ahead.
May and June: Cinco de Mayo, then the quiet
Cinco de Mayo week, roughly May 3 to 7, brings a festive bump in demand and local celebrations. The rest of May and June is the sweet spot: warm days around 85°F, fewer people, better rates, and the same live music with more room to dance. Hurricane season officially opens June 1, though direct impacts are rare that early.
July to September: summer and the rainy season
Hot, 85 to 92°F, humid, and afternoon showers that average two to three hours before clearing. Rates drop 30 to 50 percent from winter. The hour after a storm passes brings the best light of the year, so plan sunset drinks and live music for 7 to 8pm.
October and November: the marlin tournament, then the crowds return
October is the tail end of hurricane season, with the most stable weather in the final two weeks. Mid October is Bisbee's, the big marlin tournament, and the Marina fills with boats, parties and music for it. By November the weather is back to perfect and the season restarts.
