Cabo Boat Tours

Every boat tour in Cabo San Lucas is priced one of two ways. Shared trips sell you a seat, per person, on a boat you share with other guests: $89 to $289 per person depending on the boat and how long you are out. Private charters sell you the entire boat for your group for a set block of hours: $350 to $6,500 per charter across our 12-boat fleet, split however many ways you like.

The route is close to identical either way, because Cabo only has one signature stretch of water. You leave IGY Marina in Cabo San Lucas, run out past El Arco at Land's End, pass Lover's Beach and the sea lion colony, and then either anchor at Santa María Bay or Chileno Bay to swim and snorkel, or turn back along the coast for sunset. What changes is who else is on the boat, how long you stop, and who controls the day.

Book a shared trip if: you are 1 to 4 people, you want a fixed price you can book online in a minute, and you are fine with a set itinerary and a set clock.

Book a private charter if: you are 6 or more, you want to choose the music, the stops, and the pace, or the day itself is the occasion (bachelorette, birthday, anniversary, client trip). Book a fishing boat if: the point of the day is lines in the water rather than swimming and sunset. That is a different boat and a different brief · we cover it on the Cabo fishing charters page.

The evening boat splits into two products that get confused constantly, and picking the wrong one is the most common boat-tour regret in Cabo.

Sunset sails (about 2.5 hours). Smaller boat, quieter deck, the Arch in the last hour of light, a drink in your hand and a conversation you can actually hear. This is the couples boat, the anniversary boat, and the boat to put on the first night of a trip.

Party cruises (about 2.5 hours). Bigger catamaran, DJ or a loud playlist, open bar, a crowd. Excellent if that is the night you wanted and a long two and a half hours if it is not. Read the boat description before you book, not the price.

Private sunset sailing. The middle option: a sailing boat booked just for your group, no strangers, still a sail rather than a party. Priced per person on our list rather than as a whole-boat charter.

Headline charter prices look enormous next to a $89 shared seat. They are not the same unit. A charter is a flat price for the boat · divide it by your group before you compare.

Two people. Wrong product. Even our entry charter at $350 works out worse per head than a shared trip, and you lose the atmosphere of a full boat. Book the shared seat.

A full small boat. Sailboat 42ft at $850 for 3 hours with 12 guests aboard is $71 per person · already inside shared-trip range, with the boat entirely yours.

The best per-head boat in the fleet. Yamaha 28ft at $350 for 2 hours carries up to 8 guests · $44 per person at capacity. That is the cheapest way to put a large group on the water in Cabo, private.

The rule of thumb we give guests on WhatsApp: under 6 people, book a shared trip and keep the money. At 6 and up, price the charter · it usually wins on cost per head and always wins on the day itself. Capacity is set per vessel by the captain under Mexican maritime rules, so the guest counts above are hard ceilings, not suggestions.
