Cabo Adventures

Cabo is mostly water and mostly desert and 100% Baja. Here's what's actually worth doing β€” by water and by land β€” sorted by group type, season, and how many photos you'll get out of it.

On the water

The Sea of Cortez is the entire pitch

Yacht charters (3–8 hours). See our dedicated yacht pillar. Private day on the water, captain + crew + open bar + snorkel gear all included. The single highest-leverage Cabo experience.

Snorkel + Arch tours (3 hours, $65–90/person). Shared boat. Cruises to El Arco, Lover's Beach, sea lion colony, then snorkel stop at Pelican Rock or Santa MarΓa. Great budget intro for couples who don't want to commit to a private charter.

Whale watching (Dec–Apr, 3 hours, $80–120/person). Gray whales calve in the Sea of Cortez. The boats run specifically for whale sighting from December through April. Some include hot chocolate and Mexican breakfast.

Deep-sea sport fishing (4–8 hours, $400–1,500 per boat). Marlin, dorado, yellowfin tuna. Bisbee's Black & Blue tournament happens late October. Tag-and-release is standard for billfish; eating fish (dorado, tuna) the crew will clean and you can take home or have the chef prep at your villa.

On land

ATVs, camels, ziplines, horseback β€” the Baja outback

ATV + camel combos (4–5 hours, $85–150/person). Drive an ATV through the Baja desert, ride a camel along the Pacific coastline, lunch served at the ranch. The most photographed land adventure in Cabo. Watch out: the camel-riding component can be controversial for animal-ethics-minded guests.

Desert ATV tours (4 hours, $85–120/person). ATV-only, no camels, longer ride. The right pick if you want adrenaline more than animal photos.

Ziplining (3 hours, $90–130/person). Wild Canyon and Adventures Park have multiple zipline circuits. Family-friendly down to ~8 years old.

Horseback riding (2–3 hours, $80–120/person). Beach and arroyo rides. Sunset rides are the best photo and the lowest temperature.

Cabo Pulmo (East Cape, day trip, $200–350/person all-in). UNESCO marine park, 90 minutes north. The best snorkeling and scuba diving in the entire Sea of Cortez region. Worth the drive.

Unique to Cabo

Things you can only do here

Lover's Beach + Divorce Beach hike. Lover's Beach is the small beach at Land's End between two rock formations, only accessible by water taxi from the marina ($15-25/person round trip). On the other side of the same rock formation is "Divorce Beach" facing the Pacific β€” DO NOT swim here, the undertow is lethal.

Sunset glassblowing workshop (Pueblo Bonito, 2 hours, $120/person). Watch master glassblowers, then try it yourself. Niche but memorable.

Whale shark swimming (La Paz day trip, 8 hours, $250–400/person). Only in La Paz Bay, Oct-Apr. Only legal with licensed operators. The largest fish in the ocean, friendly and slow-moving.

Bisbee's Black & Blue Marlin Tournament (Oct 21-25 2026). The largest marlin tournament in the world. Million-dollar prize purses. Even if you're not fishing, the boat parade and the weigh-ins are a Cabo cultural moment.

FAQs

Common questions

What's the best Cabo adventure for first-time visitors?
A 3-hour yacht charter, then an ATV+camel combo on a separate day. Those two cover water and desert and give you the entire Cabo aesthetic.
What's the best for kids?
Shared snorkel + Arch tours, ziplining (age 8+), and horseback beach rides. Skip the ATVs for under-12s.
How early should I book adventures?
Shared adventures: 3-5 days. Private yacht charters: 14+ days in peak season. Bisbee's tournament week: 3+ months for fishing-capable yachts.
What about pickup from my hotel/villa?
Most adventures include pickup from major hotels and villa rentals. Pacific-side villas (Pedregal Pacific, Diamante) sometimes have pickup surcharges due to distance.
Weather cancellation policy?
For water-based adventures, captain's call up to 24 hours before. Land-based adventures rarely cancel for weather.
Are these adventures family-friendly?
Most are. Min ages range from "no minimum" (beach hike) to 16+ (ATVs in some configurations). Each listing shows minimum age clearly.
