Hola, there are two types of vacation people.
There is the person who wants a book, a pool, and absolutely no agenda. And there is the person who needs to jump off something, drive something fast, or swim next to something large before they feel like the trip was worth it.
Both are right. Cabo just happens to be one of the few places on earth that serves both crowds equally well.
Here is how to figure out which side you are on and what to book.
The Chill Menu
These are the adventures for people who consider "doing nothing beautifully" a legitimate vacation strategy.
Sunset yacht cruise. Not a party boat. A private yacht with a small group or just your crew, cold drinks, a chef making ceviche, and the Arch at golden hour. The most relaxing three hours in Cabo. You do nothing except exist in a beautiful setting, and it is perfect.
Palmilla Beach day. One of the few swimmable beaches on the Cabo side, Palmilla has calm water, soft sand, and a low-key energy that feels miles from the Medano Beach scene. Bring a book. Bring a cooler. Bring zero plans.
Spa day at a Corridor resort. The resorts along the Golden Corridor between Cabo and San Jose have world-class spas. Hot stone massages overlooking the ocean. Hydrotherapy circuits. The kind of pampering that makes you forget you have a phone.
Art Walk in San Jose. Every Thursday evening, the gallery district in San Jose del Cabo opens its doors. Stroll through contemporary Mexican art, sip wine, and end up at a candlelit dinner. This is chill with culture.
Float and snorkel at Chileno Bay. The snorkeling here is effortless. Calm, clear water with colorful fish and the occasional sea turtle. You do not need to be a strong swimmer. You barely need to move. Just float and look down.
Villa day. Hear us out. Some of the best days in Cabo are the ones where you never leave your villa. Private pool, ocean views, a chef making lunch, music on the speaker. Sometimes the luxury is having nowhere to be.
The Thrill Menu
These are for people who consider relaxation a form of torture.
ATV desert tour. Tear across sand dunes and desert trails near Quivira with ocean views in the distance. You will get dirty. You will go faster than feels wise. You will love it.
Parasailing over Medano Beach. Three hundred feet above Cabo San Lucas, dangling from a parachute, looking down at the marina, the resorts, and the entire coastline. The takeoff and landing are the scariest parts. The middle is pure adrenaline-laced peace.
Deep sea fishing. The waters off Cabo sit where the Pacific meets the Sea of Cortez, creating one of the best fishing grounds in the world. Marlin, dorado, tuna, wahoo. When you hook a big one, the fight is real. This is physical, competitive, and deeply satisfying.
Cliff jumping at Santa Maria. With a guide, you can access cliff jumping spots at Santa Maria Bay along the Corridor. Heights range from approachable to "why did I agree to this." The water below is warm and clear.
Surfing at Costa Azul. The Pacific-facing breaks near the Corridor are real waves. Not resort-gentle, not artificially calm. If you have surfing experience, these swells deliver. If you are learning, the instructors know how to find the right section for beginners.
Jet ski tour to the Arch. Blast across the harbor on a jet ski, round Land's End, pass the sea lion colony, and park at Lover's Beach. Thirty minutes of spray, speed, and views that look different at forty miles per hour.
Cabo Pulmo dive. Two hours from Cabo, the Cabo Pulmo marine reserve offers some of the best diving in North America. Jack fish tornadoes, bull sharks, and reef life so dense it blocks the sunlight. This is the thrill adventure for people who prefer their adrenaline underwater.
The Best of Both
The most memorable Cabo trips mix chill and thrill. Here is the formula that works:
Day 1: Arrive, settle into the villa, pool day. (Chill) Day 2: Morning ATV or snorkeling, afternoon pool recovery. (Thrill + Chill) Day 3: Yacht day with snorkeling stops and sunset cruise. (Both) Day 4: San Jose art walk and farm dinner. (Chill) Day 5: Deep sea fishing or surf lesson. (Thrill) Day 6: Spa morning, beach afternoon, sunset dinner. (Chill) Day 7: Whatever you did not get to yet.
The trick is alternating. A thrill day followed by a chill day keeps the trip from becoming exhausting or boring.
